    Rose gum Pale pink to red brown heartwood, paler but not clearly differentiated sapwood, and moderately coarse textured, straight or interlocked grain. Grows to 35-40m & produces well-formed straight stem. Is moderately light, strong & durable. Used in light construction, boat building, joinery, flooring, weatherboarding & hardboard. 810Kg/cbm - Air dry Introduced to SA as a hybrid of E.grandis/tereticornis.Many planting/ establishment are found in blocks together with grandis. It is well established in the northern Transvaal, KZN & southern Cape. Limited populations occur at Tokai on the western Cape.

    Sugar Gum Medium sized tree, grows to 37m. Tree yields yellowish-brown hue, fine, uniform texture with interlocking grain. Not Found in frost areas and located in semi-arid & sub-humid areas. Thrives in the Western Cape.

    Rose gum Pink/pale red in color. Grows to heights of 40m & forms well shaped stem and is branch fee for two-thirds of the trunk. Yields a pale pink timber that is less durable & softer than most Eucalyptus species. The timber is moderately light, straight grained, open texture. Used extensively as pulp material, light construction, boarding.. 810 Kg/cbm Grows best in warmer, subtropical climates that receive ave. rainfall 1000 m p.a. Planted successfully on wide variety of soils, from thorn-veld to coastal dunes.
